The Gwynn’s Island Festival was a successful day for us. It was a hot and humid day, but everyone seemed to enjoy all the crafts, food, and games. Thank you to everyone that stopped by our tent! Our next event is July 25-29 at the Virginia Highlands Festival in Abingdon where Scott will be displaying his photography.

In the print shop this week I am back to printing on canvas. It’s been a while since I’ve worked with canvas, and it really is a fun media to work with. The process is different from regular photography or giclee prints in that after printing, canvas prints are sprayed with an archival print varnish and then stretched on stretcher bars. The finished canvas can then be hung as is or set in a floating frame.

We would like to welcome M. D. Slaughter to the Mermaid Cove Publishing family! Her first book, Until the Cardinals Carry Me Home, will be coming soon. In this debut poetry collection, the author lays bare the grief she suffered the first year after the tragic loss of her best friend. Her writing draws you in and we feel privileged to help bring this book into publication.
