Mermaid Cove Publishing is not a traditional publisher or a vanity press, but an independent hybrid publisher. Combining elements of traditional publishing and self-publishing, hybrid publishing is a fast-growing area in the publishing industry. As an independent hybrid publisher, we apprise ourselves as the “other” way for authors, proudly offering the alternative in a fast-changing publishing scene. Learn more about Hybrid Publishers here.
Mermaid Cove Publishing partners with authors offering them a full range of professional publishing services while allowing authors to retain copyright, intellectual, and creative control over their work. We personally walk with you through the steps of publishing your book, making sure your book has the attention it deserves. The publishing process can be intimidating but, in the end, we KNOW you’ll have a great book you (and we) can be proud of.
We do not have one set publishing package for our authors. Every situation, book, and author will have different needs, so we customize a publishing package unique to every author we vet. Most Mermaid Cove publishing packages will be between $1,200 and $3,500. To offset the up-front investment by authors, independent hybrid publishers offer a higher royalty rate than traditional publishers. At Mermaid Cove our authors receive 70% net on print books and 80% net on digital books.
Our Team
Scott and Angie Clawson have always worked as a team and their collaboration at Mermaid Cove Publishing is no exception. Together they have owned several businesses, and they currently operate Gwynn’s Island Vacation Rentals. Their experience, honesty, and values give authors the confidence they seek.

Graphic Designer
Angie has over seventeen years of graphic design, website and marketing experience from her time working for the award-winning American artist, P. Buckley Moss. She brings that experience to her roles as publisher, graphic designer, website designer, and author assistant services at Mermaid Cove.
In her spare time, Angie enjoys cooking, reading, and traveling with her husband and their “princess” cat, Elsa.
Scott Clawson,

Manager/Writer
Scott’s passion is writing and photography. He brings over 25 years of supervisory and management experience to Mermaid Cove as the project manager and publication assistant.
Besides his love for writing and photography, Scott enjoys cooking, gardening, and his travel adventures with Angie and Elsa, the travel cat.
