Illustrator Highlight

Here at Mermaid Cove we have been very fortunate to form a partnership with some talented artists, especially Helena Crevel. Helena has truly brought J. S. Clawson’s characters to life with her illustrations in The Hawk and the Hummingbird series.

Helena is easy and fun to work with and her ideas still amaze us. We give her a story and idea and she comes back with a truly creative sketch. The final color illustration breathes life into the characters.

Having been born in Ukraine, she currently works from her studio in Paris, France. From tiny insects to large beasts, Helena has a special passion for bringing all types of creatures to the pages of childrens’ stories. Helena’s love for nature and storytelling through art was inspired by a rich background of folktales that surrounded Helena from an early age. Not only does Helena share her passion for art to children in her illustrations, but she also teaches art and has a love for crafts.

Besides The Hawk and the Hummingbird books, you will find Helena’s illustrations in numerous children’s books including the Kateri O’Leary books by Shirley Martin, Raju the Elephant Who Cried by Shasta Rose, All in the Same Boat by Wilkie J. Martin, and many others.

Helena can be found on Fiverr, https://www.fiverr.com/strangozza.
