Happy October

“The winds of change really can be beautiful.”

Happy October! Thank you to everyone who came to meet us at the Warrenton Fall Festival and the Wine & Garlic Festival over the past two weekends. The Southern Festival of Books is this coming weekend in Nashville, and we can’t wait to see what the weekend holds.

In our last newsletter, we welcomed Tetiana as a new author. You can read more about her here on our author page, https://mermaidcoveproductions.com/authors.

Tetiana Jova’s new book, Dreams of Summer, will be published in early 2026.

This week we want to tell you about Shenandoah Squatch, a children’s book author from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. The Squatch writes storybook rhymes that spark imagination and wonder in young readers. His fun and energetic stories will be brought to life with colorful artwork provided by Helena.

Our county of Mathews here on the coast of the Chesapeake Bay boasts a vibrant community of artists and artisans, all bringing their unique skills, mediums, and backgrounds to their work. Together, they create an amazing array of authentic, handmade pieces, from fine art and textiles to traditional crafts, furniture, jewelry, home and body products, glass, and sculpture – all made right here in Mathews County.

Each year these artists and artisans invite you into their working studios during the Made In Mathews Open Studio Tour. You can experience and engage with these diverse and talented artists and artisans, each dedicated to their craft. Mermaid Cove is looking forward to being a part of this year’s tour. Our studio will be open both weekends of the tour. Come see our working print studio, browse our books, and see what’s going on at Mermaid Cove. Do you have a story to tell? Whether it be a children’s story, novel, sci-fi, or poetry, we would love to get in touch with you. Send us an email with your idea or a portion of your manuscript and let’s start a conversation. You can also contact us via our website and send your submission online.
