I would have liked more detail about the characters. Kudos to the author for writing a book at age 82! I would recommend this book to anyone interested in local history.”

3 STARS “I really enjoyed the wonderful descriptions of the Northern Neck. The author did a beautiful job of bringing the area to life and sharing how simple life was in many was while also illustrating just how much hard work was required to survive. I thought the climax could have been more dramatic and developed because of the blend the historical fiction and non-fiction elements in the story. Overall, I enjoyed the book for its vivid setting and portrayal of everyday life during that time. I would recommend this book.”
