Future Story Ideas

Future Story Ideas

As a writer, it is good to keep a log or a small book that you can write future story ideas in. Something that you can keep handy when you need to start a new book. If you are doing a series, inspiration for a new book in the series can come at any time so it is good to write it down so you can jog your memory later. Jot down your idea and then add some important bullet points to go with it. These ideas and bullet points can be used to develop the outline for your next book.

Not all your ideas will become books. Some may be absorbed into other books or story lines. But it is important to write these ideas down as the inspiration hits and to have them in a centralized and easy to access area. It is amazing when you thumb through the pages of your notepad and read how good some of your ideas are! Sometimes old ideas will form new ideas and new creativity.

If you have an idea, don’t let it go to waste. Write it down and see what comes of it. When it is time for your new book, go through your ideas. Pick on what seems interesting and start on the plot outline. If it flows naturally, you know you have picked a good one. If it feels like it is being forced, maybe go back to your idea book and see if another comes together more easily and naturally.
