Spring is around the corner

Spring is right around the corner …

We are pleased to announce that author Susanne Benton has joined Mermaid Cove Publishing. Ms. Benton is a preschool teacher, certified parent coach, and a nationally board-certified massage therapist. She has authored several children's books, including Big is Small and Small is Big and Except for Thomas. Later this year, Susanne will publish her latest work, Dragon O’Clock, a children’s board book under our Little Starfish Books imprint. The illustrations for this book are being created by Helena, whose charming and vibrant artwork will enhance the story. We look forward to sharing a preview of these illustrations with you soon.

This past weekend we participated in the Appalachian Wordfest in Sevierville, TN and enjoyed meeting so many book-loving people. There was an abundance of talented authors with a diverse range of genres. Our next event will be at the Gloucester Daffodil Festival, March 28-29, https://www.daffodilfestivalva.org/.

Publishing and printing a book involves evaluating a range of options available to both publishers and authors. Numerous print-on-demand (POD) providers exist alongside a variety of offset and digital printing solutions. To assist with these decisions, we have launched a new series of blog posts that examine the different alternatives. The initial post focuses on IngramSpark, a prominent POD service. Updates from Scott

Safe Harbor

I went out early this morning hoping to photograph the Blood Moon—one of those rare moments when the Earth eclipses the Moon and turns it a deep, beautiful red. But the rain and fog had other plans.

Instead of the eclipse, I found this quiet scene: a lone green beacon standing watch in the mist. It reminded me that even when life is shrouded in fog and the waves push us off course, there are still lights that guide us toward safe harbors.

We don’t always get the moment we set out to capture, but sometimes we’re given the moment we need.

Seek it, explore it, live it.
